Prior to re-joining GPS in 2016, Danny Corral was hand-picked by the Miami-based Faena Group, to be its Vice-President of Finance in 2014 to spearhead financial operations and opening of the Faena District in Miami Beach, Florida by Alan Faena, an Argentinian real estate developer who is known to work with only the best minds in the business. The Faena District is a $1 Billion Hotel, Condo, Retail and Arts Center complex and has been touted to be the most ambitious real estate and architectural projects in Miami. At Faena, Mr. Corral co-managed a combined pre-opening and operating budget of $500M+ during the development of Faena District and launch of Faena Saxony Hotel, Faena House etc. He also developed all financial SOP’s and oversaw execution of all operating contracts and partnership agreements and implemented finance and accounting processes best practices for all Faena operating entities. Mr. Corral also served as an officer of the Board for Faena House and Faena Hotel HOA’s.
Prior to relocating to Miami, Danny Corral co-founded GPS in 2012 and was also concurrently recruited by India-based Sahara Plaza LLC, owners of the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York City and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts where he served as the owners’ CFO and Director of Finance for Fairmont and Hampshire Hotels for almost two years under a highly complex multiple management agreements. A seasoned hospitality financial and technology veteran, Mr. Corral is also reputed to deliver desired results by balancing people, product and profit while embracing a “WIN-WIN” attitude. He is a hard-driving asset manager with solid integrity and highly successful background in multi-unit, mixed-use and complex luxury properties. His financial acumen and versatility was obtained while associated with leading companies such as Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Lehman Brothers, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels, Matrix Development Group and Helmsley Hotels.
From 2005 to 2012, he was a member of the Executive Committee as Director of Finance in the North America Division at Starwood Hotels and Resorts and successfully managed a combined total of approximately $300M of hospitality revenues for Starwood Hotels & Resorts at 2 of its most prime properties namely the Essex House and the company’s luxury flagship hotel, The St. Regis in New York City. He has worked to assist shape the financial operations of its luxury hotel and mixed-use environment/whole and fractional business models of properties in New York City. Prior to Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Corral’s extensive and progressive hospitality experience included an asset management consulting gig with Lehman Brothers- Hotel Group, Chief Business Officer and Executive Director of Finance for Park Central New York by Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Regional Controller for Matrix Development Group and Hotel Controller for Omni Hotels. Mr. Corral’s professional career spans more than 25 years of New York City experience. He is a graduate of La Salle University Business School and his post graduate studies/training includes Advanced Hospitality Revenue Management from Cornell University, Corporate Finance from the New York Institute of Finance, Six Sigma from Starwood and was also a lead instructor of Finance for Starwood University as well as chaired the Starwood Financial Talent Recruiting and Steering Committee in the Northeast region.
